Vrooman archive of Turtle Mountain Chippewa folklife, 1980-1992.

The Vrooman Archive of Turtle Mountain Chippewa Folklife Collection consists primarily of interviews conducted by Nicolas Churchin Vrooman from 1980-1992. The interviews were recorded on audio tape and then transcribed onto paper. Narratives, stories, music, song are among the subjects included. Each audio tape varies in length. Some tapes are recorded on both sides. Vrooman sought funding from the North Dakota Humanities Council to produce a one hour television documentary on the Plains Ojibwa/Michif people with the information he had collected. This part of his project was to be entitled, "Tunes, Song, Dance and Stories from the Turtle Mountains." Also included in the collection are 95 slides depicting Metis images. They can be found along with the slide inventory in folder #108.
